Jumping
ship! Jennifer Lopez has cut ties with Capitol Records and the Island
Def Jam Music Group to sign a multi-album deal with Epic Records, a
source confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.
“She had dinner with [her manager] Benny [Medina] and L.A. Reid Monday
night at Il Mulino to celebrate her new record deal!” the source tells
Us of the trio’s get-together in NYC on February 29. “Jennifer and L.A.
are longtime friends, and they love working together.”
For most of her career, the Shades of Blue
actress, 46, has released her dance-heavy discography through Epic
Records. In 2010, she left the label to sign with Def Jam where Reid,
59, served as CEO at the time. Now that the former X Factor judge oversees Epic, where Lopez produced some of her most memorable albums, she’s ready to go back home.
“She has a bunch of hits. But she’s always making music,” the source
adds of the “I Luh Ya Papi” singer. “And she’s really excited to work
with L.A. to put new stuff out!”
Back in October 2015, the multi-hyphenate star spoke to MTV UK about releasing new tunes after the first run of her Las Vegas residency, All I Have.
“I’m always working on music, always, always, always,” she teased. “I'm
working on a couple of other things, so we’ll see … it'll be an
exciting year!" |
